If you’ve recently called for roofing services and scheduled for new asphalt roofing, you no doubt are going to have plenty of questions—it’s only natural. After all, your roof is your home’s crown jewel, the exterior feature that ties all that lies beneath it together into one unified picture. No small renovation indeed!
While we’re more than happy to answer any questions you may have during our consultation, Perfect Exteriors is also here to help before we even begin. Below, you’ll find a few common Q and A’s regarding asphalt roofing.
Why Is my New Asphalt Roofing Falling Apart?
After your team leaves, you see little granules of roofing material in the gutters—and you panic. Your roofers were so thorough; how on Earth are things deteriorating that fast?
It’s a trick question: they’re not. If you notice loose granules the first few days after installation, they were simply knocked loose in the packaging and were unlikely to be attached to a shingle in the first place. Rest assured that what’s been applied to your roof is perfectly strong and ready to do its job. As an exterior contractor, we wouldn’t have it any other way!
How Long Will my Asphalt Roofing Installers Take?
That depends on a number of factors. The size of your home, for one, obviously influences things. If your roofers find reparative work that needs to be done, that may also shift timelines around. Finally, if unsafe weather conditions roll in, you may experience delays.
All that aside, though, asphalt roofing tends to be easy to install, and experienced roofing companies will make quick work of it, as it’s such a commonly chosen material. In general, expect the process to take between 1 and 3 days.
Do All Asphalt Shingles Look Similar?
Sure, they all involve asphalt. How much variation can there be to that? you may think. It turns out, quite a bit!
Asphalt shingles are available in a variety of shapes, for example, from the more traditional and rectangular to the marvelously modern architectural style. Colors too are variable; dark grey doesn’t have to be the norm anymore! High-end models, like GAF’s Timberline, can also contain slight color variations within them, mimicking wood.
